Millions of families in the U.S. live in maternity care deserts, where it’s nearly impossible for moms and babies to get the medical care they need to stay healthy.
Unfortunately, March of Dimes’ new report, Nowhere to Go: Maternity Care Deserts Across the U.S. 2022, shows that this maternity care crisis is getting worse. Nearly 7 million women in the U.S. are living in communities with no or limited access to maternity care, and 1 in 8 babies are born in these areas.
