Senior year is just around the corner! 🎓
Between final schedules, college plans, and all the excitement that comes with 12th grade, don't forget to check one important item off your back-to-school list: immunization.
In West Virginia, students entering 12th grade are required to receive a booster dose of the MenACWY/MCV4 vaccine to help protect against meningococcal disease. Although rare, meningococcal disease can develop quickly and may result in serious complications, including meningitis and bloodstream infections.
The MenB vaccine is also available for adolescents and young adults 16 through 23 years old to protect against an additional type of meningococcal disease not covered by the MenACWY/MCV4 vaccine.
As your teen prepares for their final year of high school and the opportunities that follow, talk with a healthcare provider to be sure they are up to date on their immunizations.
