Resources to Improve Patient/Provider Relationships
An estimated 2,000 children are born each year in the U.S. with #SickleCellDisease (SCD), an inherited blood disorder that disproportionately affects people of African and Latinx/Hispanic descent. Families who have children living with SCD know all too well the acute pain crises, dangerous infections, and other serious health problems that can damage every organ in the body. This is exacerbated by the fact that because of barriers to care, people living with SCD and their families and caregivers often miss critical healthcare appointments.
Forming a positive patient-provider relationship is a critical step in ensuring that people living with SCD attend critical healthcare appointments and receive the care they need.
