Description

In a concerning pattern, we are seeing a growing number of corporations, law firms, and individuals attempting to intimidate Earth Defenders through repression tactics, specifically through SLAPP suits. Protect the Protest, a task force of nonprofit organizations, was created to protect the free speech of public interest advocates in the United States.

In order to safeguard the Amazon and its defenders, we can’t allow corporate actors to shut down environmental advocacy. We must educate our personal networks about this threat by sharing this short animation explaining the threat of SLAPPs to free speech. After that, we can encourage everyone to support federal anti-SLAPP leglisation like the law introduced by Representative Jamie Raskin in 2022.
