I'm in Washington, D.C. this week for #HotelsOnTheHill, meeting with my [[[STATE legislators NAMES.]]]
Hundreds of hoteliers are here to urge congressional leaders about the need to support and strengthen the hotel industry which provides billions of dollars in economic activity to communities across America.
We're advocating for a modernized H-2B visa program, passage of the American Franchise Act, and increased global tourism funding.
[[[If you are a franchisee, insert real life examples of how changing definitions and rules have affected your business.]]]
[[[If you use the H-2B visa program, insert real life examples of how this program benefits you or hotels you know.]]]
[[[If you are experiencing decreased travel demand, or lower inbound travel from Canada/Mexico, insert real life examples.]]]
I’m proud to stand with the hotel industry and looking forward to productive conversations!

Small Business Deduction Permanency
What does small business deduction permanency mean for hoteliers? 🛎️
For hoteliers who are owners of pass-through businesses – such as sole proprietorships and partnerships – the 20% qualified business income deduction that was set to expire at the end of the year is now permanent.
➡️ This gives small business hoteliers greater certainty to reinvest in their businesses and employees, and plan for the future.
Paid Family and Medical Leave Credit Permanency
What does paid family and medical leave credit permanency mean for hoteliers? 🛎️
With passage of the landmark tax package, the credit is now permanent, and workers are eligible at six months of employment instead of 12 months. This credit is instrumental in giving employers the ability to provide staff with paid leave and help employees achieve work-life balance.
No Tax on Tips
What does the 'No Tax on Tips' provision mean for hoteliers? 🛎️
The "No Tax on Tips" legislation will be crucial in helping the more than estimated 800,000 hardworking hospitality employees take home more of their pay - from housekeepers to bellhops and valets to food service professionals and spa and salon team members.
Bonus Depreciation Permanency
What does bonus depreciation permanency mean for hoteliers? 🛎️
Permanently reinstating 100% bonus depreciation allows hoteliers to deduct eligible assets – like furniture, software, and other property upgrades – the year in which they are put into service.
➡️ This gives hoteliers tax certainty that allows them to reinvest in their properties and stay competitive for years to come.
Employer-Provided Child Care Credit Permanency
What does Employer-Provided Child Care Credit permanency mean for hoteliers? 🛎️
The recently enacted tax package increased the amount an employer may take as a credit from 25-40% of qualified child care expenses and increases the total cap from $150,000 to $500,000 (and even as high as $600,000 for eligible small businesses).
➡️ Employer-provided childcare is an opportunity to improve employee recruitment, retention, and satisfaction. Moreover, this credit provides a large cost reduction for employers that provide childcare.
