OMB Delay on Release of Grant Funds
⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ The federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is delaying the release of AmeriCorps grant funds. ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️
What's Happening?
➡️ The AmeriCorps agency has issued grant awards for the 2025-2026 program year which begins on July 1, 2025.
➡️ These grants are funded by the FY25 federal budget, and the funds have been appropriated by Congress and signed into law by the President.
➡️ However, the federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is delaying the release of these awarded funds.
Who's Impacted?
➡️ AmeriCorps State and National programs, state service commissions, and AmeriCorps Seniors programs are awaiting funds.
➡️ A continued delay in releasing funds will have dire consequences as programs and commissions may have to lay off staff, programs will be unable to recruit AmeriCorps members, and communities will be left without the services members provide at schools, disaster response organizations, food banks, and more.
We urge the release of all FY25 AmeriCorps funds immediately!

Preliminary Injunction
A preliminary injunction was issued in the lawsuit led by a group of Attorneys General and Governors (Maryland et al v CNCS), challenging the AmeriCorps grant terminations and AmeriCorps NCCC demobilization that took place in April.
The preliminary injunction instructs the AmeriCorps agency to restore the terminated grants and members in the 24 states and the District of Columbia that are parties in the lawsuit and to restore the AmeriCorps NCCC program nationally.
While we are thankful for the harm that may be mitigated in those states, we are disappointed that the preliminary injunction will not alleviate harm in the remaining impacted 29 states and territories, leaving tens of thousands of AmeriCorps members and program staff, not to mention community members, without remedy. We urge the court in this and other pending lawsuits on these matters to provide relief to all impacted states and territories.
We encourage our service champions to continue contacting your Members of Congress to express your support for AmeriCorps. We also ask you to consider donating to @statecommission's National AmeriCorps Member Emergency Fund, which financially supports AmeriCorps members impacted by the recent grant terminations, as the need for financial support currently exceeds the available funds.
