The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) developed the Cannabis Safely campaign to educate adults, 21 and over, about the risks, rules, and responsibilities of retail, non-medical cannabis use in Washington state.
The campaign was informed by direct audience research with English- and Spanish-speaking adults and a robust partner engagement process, including input from the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board, Washington State Traffic Safety Commission, and local county health departments across the state. DOH also met with representatives from the cannabis industry to provide updates on the campaign development process, answer questions, and hear feedback.
Toolkit assets include:
The campaign features videos, banner ads, and social media in English and Spanish to reach people
online, as well as campaign talking points and a backgrounder. There is also a printed booklet in English that is available for in-person outreach.
The assets direct people to visit the campaign website, CannabisSafelyWA.org (English) and CannabisConSeguridadWA.org (Spanish), for more information and answers to Frequently Asked Questions about using cannabis in Washington state.
