  What we can see on the skin is only one measure of eczema’s impact. Understanding eczema also means asking about what may be less visible: disrupted sleep, mental and emotional well-being, work and school, relationships, daily routines and the ongoing demands of managing it. These experiences aren’t secondary to our understanding of eczema. They help define it. Patient experience can provide critical context for research, clinical care and the development of resources that reflect what people with eczema actually need.
