For more than 30 years, AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers have shown up to “get things done for America.” Pick a random spot on a map of America, and there’s a good chance we’ve been there. Seriously, AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers served in more than 35,000 locations nationwide last year, including in all 50 U.S. states, territories, and several tribal nations.
But now, we face a very real possibility of a future without it.
We can’t let that happen.
This summer, we need your help reminding our fellow citizens and elected officials that AmeriCorps is America at its best.

AmeriCorps is America at its Most Resilient
In 2011, more than 400 @AmeriCorps members deployed to Joplin, Missouri, in the wake of a devastating EF-5 tornado. In the weeks and months that followed, they helped more than 3,000 households recover and rebuild.
In 2024, corps members descended upon the southeast following back-to-back hurricanes that left communities from Florida to Kentucky reeling. Many were still on site when they were told to stop service and return home earlier this year.
Their service demonstrates not an aversion to challenge, but an attitude that embraces difficult circumstances only to come out stronger, smarter, and healthier.

AmeriCorps is America, and We Must Protect It
It’s a life-changing experience for those who serve.
It also uplifts and benefits classrooms, communities, national forests and national parks - more than 35,000 places and spaces in every state, every territory, and several tribal nations.
It brings people together and bridges divides, strengthening the connections between each other.
That’s what makes the decision to eliminate nearly 33,000 AmeriCorps members and Seniors volunteers earlier this spring so heartbreaking. It’s not just a setback for those told to go home. It’s a step back from the values we aspire to uphold and hurts communities coast-to-coast.
