Service Year Alliance is working to make a year of paid, full-time service — a service year — a common expectation and opportunity for all young Americans.
Campaign #1: The 2025 Service Year Alums Survey engaged alums from a wide variety of service year programs to assess the long-term impacts of service years on those who serve.
The survey and accompanying State of Alums Report offer compelling data-driven evidence that affirms what practitioners, advocates, and service year alums have long known: service years work—for young people, for communities, and for the nation. Share the report in your network with our social media templates.
Campaign #2:
For more than 30 years, AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers have shown up to “get things done for America.” Pick a random spot on a map of America, and there’s a good chance we’ve been there. Seriously, AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers served in more than 35,000 locations nationwide last year, including in all 50 U.S. states, territories, and several tribal nations.
But now, we face a very real possibility of a future without it.
We can’t let that happen.
This summer, we need your help reminding our fellow citizens and elected officials that AmeriCorps is America at its best.

Summer 2025
For more than 30 years, AmeriCorps has provided an opportunity for millions of Americans to serve our country.
Whether helping communities rebuild in the wake of natural disasters or helping students learn to read and write - @AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers show up to “get things done for America.”

Summer 2025
AmeriCorps is America at its most resilient.
In 2011, more than 400 @AmeriCorps members deployed to Joplin, Missouri, in the wake of a devastating EF-5 tornado. In the weeks and months that followed, they helped more than 3,000 households recover and rebuild.
In 2024, corps members descended upon the southeast following back-to-back hurricanes that left communities from Florida to Kentucky reeling. Many were still on site when they were told to stop service and return home earlier this year.
Their service demonstrates not an aversion to challenge, but an attitude that embraces difficult circumstances only to come out stronger, smarter, and healthier.

Summer 2025
A service year through @AmeriCorps is a transformative experience.
It’s a life-changing experience for those who serve.
It uplifts and benefits classrooms, communities, national forests and national parks - more than 35,000 places and spaces in every territory, and several tribal nations.
It brings people together and bridges divides, strengthening the connections between each other.
That’s what makes the decision to eliminate nearly 33,000 AmeriCorps members and Seniors volunteers earlier this spring so heartbreaking. It’s not just a setback for those told to go home. It’s a step back from the values we aspire to uphold.
