The FAFSA Simplification Act makes significant changes to the underlying processes and methodologies for determining federal student aid eligibility. The goal of this legislation is to make the FAFSA shorter and less complex and to make eligibility more predictable for students and their families. Implementation of the updated FAFSA will launch as part of the 2024-25 FAFSA, and became available Dec. 31, 2023.
Resources have been developed for SHEEO members to help spread the word about FAFSA changes. The 2024–25 FAFSA form is now available after a short soft launch at the beginning of January 2024.
For questions regarding these resources, please contact SHEEO Strategic Communications Director Jessica Duren, jduren@sheeo.org.
