Silence the Shame is a nonprofit organization that focuses on education and awareness around mental health. Our programs and initiatives consist of Crisis Response Trainings, Community Conversations, Wellness Trainings, digital content, and outreach events. We aim to normalize the conversation, peel back the layers of shame, eliminate stigma, and provide support for mental well-being.
Established as The Hip-Hop Professional Foundation, the organization gained momentum quickly when Silence the Shame was launched as an anti-stigma mental health awareness campaign. STS Founder Shanti Das partnered with influencers and celebrities through social media to bring awareness to mental health and the impact of stigma. With this momentum, the organization moved to change the Hip-Hop Professional Foundation's name to Silence the Shame, Inc. to maintain branding.

Healing in Public (HIP) is a mental health and crisis recovery initiative to create safe spaces for everyone to be radically honest, transparent, and vulnerable without shame. With over two years of surviving the pandemic, our minds, body, and energy are depleted, and the level of uncertainty on how we move forward is profound. Whether experiencing challenges internally or externally, healing in public is a call for grace for everyone to unmask in the open. Our brains were not made to endure this stress level; It is giving yourself permission to feel your feelings, connect with your friends and give yourself grace during this time.
Healing in Public:
A bold statement saying "I am human, I am going through pain, trauma, loss, anxiety, grief, but I am not alone. I am going to lean in on my support systems and let someone know how I am feeling. I don't need to hide behind closed doors."
#HealinginPublic
Be gentle with those around you with their process of opening up about mental health. Some of us come from backgrounds, families, or cultures where mental health was ignored, stigmatized, and seen as a weakness.

You can never heal if you keep pretending that nothing is wrong.

The longer we live in the past and with regret, the longer we are postponing our ability to start where we are and move forward! Your story isn't finished being written! This is a reminder to give yourself grace if you are living in the past.

Asking for help is not a failure! This stigma prevents so many people from getting the help they need. Healing in Public was designed to remind you that asking for help is anything but weak.
Let's start healing in public without shame, today!
#HealinginPublic #SilencetheShame
If these past few years have taught us anything, it's that we need to prioritize our mental health. When we go through grief, pain, and trauma, life doesn't stop around us. Whether we like it or not, sometimes we may even be forced to "Heal in Public" and go through our grief while still doing daily life. "HIP" is a call for grace, that as a community we can fall together and pick each other back up again. We're all going through something, and you don't need to hide behind closed doors.
