La Plazita and the Journey to Justice Tour invite you to experience the human stories behind the movement to end solitary confinement. Join us at La Plazita on Saturday, September 27th, from 4-8 PM for a vital community event featuring powerful storytelling and dialogue.
The afternoon is anchored by a compelling book panel for Ending Isolation: The Case Against Solitary Confinement, featuring author Debbie Zalesne in person and co-author Chris Blackwell joining by phone as well as local organizers Loren Gomez and Brandi Sedillo. Moderated by Siddiq.
A centerpiece of this event is our tour bus, transformed into an interactive museum on wheels. This immersive experience is designed to make the human cost of solitary and mass incarceration impossible to ignore. Inside, you can explore powerful exhibits and connect with oral historians—survivors of solitary confinement who bring these stories to life.
The bus will be open at 4 PM, the panel will run from 5-6:30 PM, followed by more time for conversation. Come for the discussion, stay for the community, and enjoy light refreshments, poetry, and music as we unite in the movement for justice and human dignity.
