The results are in! Here's how federal, state and territory governments are tracking in the race to renewables.
While there have been some exciting clean energy announcements over the past few months, there are still plenty of renewable opportunities just waiting to be harnessed by our governments. Not only does Australia have some of the best renewable energy resources in the world, we now have our best ever opportunity to harness them for national and global good. ???? Tasmania has held on to the number one spot, but with other jurisdictions catching up, it’s anyone’s game in the future.
The state’s strong track record of embracing renewables and it’s world-leading renewable energy target of 200% by 2040 has seen Tassie hang onto first place on WWF-Australia's Renewable Superpower Scorecard.
30/11/21
South Australia has come in third in WWF-Australia's Renewable Superpower Scorecard, after gaining four points since the last scorecard came out in March.
While there have been some exciting announcements on transport and legislating their net 100% renewables target by 2030 coming out of SA over the last few months, we’re calling on the government to ditch fossil hydrogen and fully embrace its green alternative.
30/11/21
Great work, NSW!
The announcement of substantial renewable hydrogen programs has seen NSW gain a whopping 16 points in WWF-Australia's Renewable Superpower Scorecard and overtake South Australia and Victoria to claim second place.
This makes the state the most improved of all across the country!
30/11/21
Great job, QLD!
QLD is now sitting in fourth place on WWF-Australia's Renewable Superpower Scorecard after gaining 10 points after its incredible $2bn commitment in a Renewable Energy & Hydrogen Jobs Fund and supporting new export industries, like the worlds largest electrolyser factory in Gladstone.
While this is fantastic news, we’re urging the government to shine even brighter and up their ambitions when it comes to targets and decarbonising transport and industry.
